Thankful for Your Employees? Show Them This Thanksgiving!

Cynthia Jenkins

Why Gratitude Matters in the Workplace

Fostering a culture of gratitude improves employee morale, engagement, and overall well-being. Employees who feel appreciated are more likely to feel motivated and stay committed to their roles.

Create a Workplace Gratitude Wall

Set up a physical or virtual gratitude wall where employees can share what they’re thankful for. Provide sticky notes in common areas or use platforms like Microsoft Teams or Slack to encourage employees to participate. It’s a simple yet powerful way to promote positivity and build a sense of community.

Express Your Gratitude

Thanksgiving is an excellent time to express gratitude to your employees for their hard work and dedication. Personalize the appreciation:

  • Send handwritten thank-you cards.

  • Have a party and invite family members.

  • Provide employees with a token of appreciation, like gift cards or wellness packages.

Flexibility During the Holidays

The holidays can be a busy and stressful time for employees. Show your understanding by offering flexible work options, such as remote work, adjusted hours, or even a half-day before Thanksgiving. These gestures go a long way in showing employees that their well-being matters.

Host a Workplace Thanksgiving Lunch

Designate a time for all employees to join in for a catered or potluck Thanksgiving lunch. Perhaps use this time as a platform to share about each other's cultures and traditions. This small gesture shows your employees that you care about them beyond their performance on the job.
